How do you keep Sausalito Beautiful? Neighbor Spotlight

Inspirational stories of neighbors going above and beyond to keep our beloved town beautiful.

This spotlight is on Kathy Klovstad, Sausalito Beautiful volunteer and neighborhood litter picker upper.

“When waiting for the bus, I had time to notice the litter around me and started picking it up. The bus stop and pocket park in front of the 7-11 is a busy area and supplies a continuous source of litter. When Covid hit, I started working from home. I made sure to get out for a short walk once a day. On my walks, I also picked up any litter I saw along the way. Now, on any walk around town, you will continue to see me pick up litter. It feels productive and makes me happy to see our town litter free. When there is less litter visible, I figure it prevents others from littering. I’m grateful for this beautiful town we live in and I am happy to do my part.” – Kathy Klovstad.

Kathy’s commitment to cleaning up litter is contagious. Per Jill Willams, one of Kathy’s neighbors and friends, “Kathy’s quiet leadership has created the same habit in many other Sausalitans who have had the pleasure to walk with her.”
